GARBAGE - Bleed Like Me

Concept
The polished, fiery, pop-rock band with a canny knack for a catchy tune return to form with this, their fourth album.
Whats it like?
Whereas their last record was lush and synthy, this time they've kicked out the jams. Opening track Bad Boyfriend storms along, making its statement of rock intent, and is followed by the blistering Run Baby Run and the insidiously hypnotic title track.
Worth a listen
Definitely. Despite being chock-full of big guitars, this is a tremendously poppy record. There are also a couple of quieter moments – ballad It's All Over But The Crying is simply beautiful. |

FEEDER - Pushing The Senses
|
What's the concept?
It's the fifth time out for chart faves Feeder, and the second without their drummer Jon Lee, who committed suicide in 2002.
What's it like?
As expected, Feeder deliver a slab of quality Brit rock. Think The Police at their least reggae but poppiest moments. It's clear that frontman Grant Nicholas has used this release to address his friend's tragic death – the lyrics are reflective and poignant, and the songs aren't quite as fiery as the band's previous output. The album is far from boring, though – the title track, for one, is insidiously catchy.
Worth a listen?
Yes. This isn't a particularly happy record, but it gets richer each time you play it. |

The Presidents of the United States of America - Love Everybody
|
|
What's the concept?
This is the reunion album from quirky popsters The Presidents of the USA, the twisted geniuses behind Top 40 singles Peaches and Lump.
What's it like?
Mental, really. But very, very good. The songs are full of everyday minutiae twisted round killer melodies. Some Postman laments a lost love letter, while Drool At You, with its impossibly fuzzy guitars, puts infatuation in a simplistic light everyone can probably relate to.
Worth a listen?
Oh yeah. It's a hell of a lot of fun – something that's missing in these days of whiny Keanes and Coldplays. We defy you not to have a silly grin on your face once this is through. |
